Q: What is Supreme Commander?
A: Supreme Commander is the Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game currently in development by Gas Powered Games.
Q: When will Supreme Commander be available?
A: Supreme Commander is currently scheduled for release in 2007.
Q: I can't tell from the screenshots I've seen on GameSpy.com/in PC Gamer - is the terrain 2D?
A: No, our terrain is 3D.
Q: What's the abbreviation for Supreme Commander?
A: The normal abbreviation used within GPG is the standard military-style version: "SupCom". Internally, "SC" is used only when space is at a premium, due to two letters being more ambiguous (even without StarCraft).... could stand for "Simply Centered", Scintillatingly Clean", "Sean Cassidy", et al... and because "SC" has a less "military" feel.
As to pronunciation (of SupCom)...well, some here say "Soup Comm", some say "Sup Comm". Of course, even knowing that, anyone preferring to use "SC" or "sc" isn't wrong. It's always a personal choice.
Q: Why isn't the game called Total Annihilation 2?
A: Chris Taylor (and his team) created Total Annihilation while at Cavedog, a part of Humongous Entertainment which was itself owned by GT Interactive. After finishing his work on the Core Contingency expansion pack, Chris left Cavedog to start Gas Powered Games. Cavedog later shipped T.A.: Battle Tactics and two TA:Kingdoms titles. Cavedog shut down in 2000. GT got bought by Infogrames, which changed its name a few years ago to Atari. They own the T.A. franchise. We don’t know what their plans are for it.
Q: Will Supreme Commander have (feature x)?
A: We will be releasing more feature information about Supreme Commander over the next year-and-a-half. Unfortunately, we cannot answer specific feature questions at this time.
Q: C’mon – just unofficially - will it?
A: Unofficially? Well, – no, we still can’t say. Look, we trust you. But those other people, they’d talk all over the internet about how this information is official information, so we just can’t say. We’ve all seen that scenario happen before, right?
Q: What types of multiplayer will be in the game?
A: You’re not reading these in order, are you? See last two answers, above.
Q: What are the minimum system specifications for Supreme Commander?
A: We are still a long way off from the optimization phase of development. The min-spec won't be decided on for months still - probably in 2006. For now, you can assume they’ll be higher than the T.A. min-specs. :)
Q: Will there be an expansion pack?
A: Hey, let's focus on us just finishing the first game, ok? ;)
Q: Can I be a beta tester?
A: We're quite a ways away from doing any beta testing. If we do any beta testing on SupCom, we'll probably draw from those people that participate here, and are on the GPG newsletter mailing list.
Q: Who is publishing SupCom?
A: Supreme Commander is being published by THQ. See the first official press release on Supreme Commander here
Q: Do you have a fan site kit?
A:We definitely intend to strongly support our online fans and sites. It's still a little early for us to have material that can be distributed - but we should have something available in early 2006. When available, we'll be sure to announce it on the forums and list the link on this page too.
Q: Where can I get more information about Supreme Commander?
A: Visit the official website at www.SupremeCommander.com! Be sure to sign up for the Gas Powered Newsletters - our subscribers get the insider information first!
